Repair and prevent blister formation

If sandwich panels are damaged, the outer layer can become loose from the insulation layer. When that happens, voids are created behind the outer plate. These spaces will expand after heating up. The result is a blister, swelling or fold. Not attractive, but also disastrous for the protective and insulating effect of the sandwich panels.

There can also be circumstances during production and working with panels that ultimately lead to blister formation. As a repair specialist, BE-FIRST is the founder of effective repair methods for blister formation. We have a lot of technical and practical experience in repairing bubbles and wrinkles. We are often the experts for panel manufacturers and suppliers when it comes to repairing and preventing blistering.

Do you have bubble formation on your panels or do you want to prevent blister formation? We are happy to advise you and can repair damage immediately and on site. If you contact us in time, panels do not need to be replaced. Do you have any questions or would you like to make an appointment? Please contact us without obligation!

FAQ

Where does it occur?

Blistering or folding often occurs on facades and occasionally on roofs, but usually on the part of a building where there are the most hours of sunshine (south facade). Temperatures can rise enormously here, especially with panels with a dark coating, because a dark coating absorbs a lot of heat. These facades quickly become 65 to 90 degrees. This will also cause more tension in the panel. It does not alter the fact that blistering can occur on all colours, both light and dark. It also occurs on the inside of roof or facade panels, where bonding often plays a role.

Is blistering harmful to my panel?

Bladders are predominantly an aesthetic problem. Technically, the panel performs the same as panels that do not exhibit blistering. Blisters can become larger due to temperature changes, causing the outer skin to stretch and fold. In this phase, the bladder may become irreparable or difficult to repair. That is why the advice is always to repair the bladder as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

What is your method if I have blistering?

Blistering is different on every project and strongly depends on the location of the building, design of the panel in question, its size, etc. An on-site appointment is usually recommended to discuss the possibilities.

For foreign projects we need as much information as possible, such as photos, a video and a drawing with the positions. Based on this, we make an estimate of the costs and a quote for a test repair on site.
